As Post Office Fights Pop Up Nationwide, Northlake Seems Quiet

Small communities across the nation are trying to stop the government from shutting down their post office. That doesn't seem to be the case in Northlake.

I came across a story in The New York Times earlier this month about smaller communities across the country fighting the potential closure of their post offices. Here in our community, Northlake residents are also facing the shutdown of the post office at 3212 Northlake Parkway, which was .

I haven't seen any petitions or larger efforts to keep the post office open. I called the post office yesterday, and an employee there said there was no more news regarding the potential closure, and, if it does happen, it was some time off.

The Northlake office is one of six in the Atlanta area that may be closed. The service has selected 3,700 offices nationwide for possible closure. In July, it operated about 32,000 offices across the country.
