While dog walking, woman sees intruder flee Laurel Ridge Drive home
While walking her dog, a woman who lives on Laurel Ridge Drive saw her neighbor's house broken into Jan. 13, DeKalb County police said.

The woman was walking her dog at about 7:45am when she heard an alarm sound inside a home in the 2500 block of Laurel Ridge Drive, the police report said. She saw the intruder run from an open front door, get into an older maroon Chevy Caprice backed into the home's carport and turn left onto Laurel Ridge Drive, which leads to a cul-de-sac. She watched the car turn around, speed past her and leave the area. The car did not have a license plate.

Nothing was reported stolen from the home. The 29-year-old victim showed police that a door to her home was kicked in.

TV, laptop stolen from Oakridge Circle home
A flatscreen TV and a laptop were robbed from an Oakridge Circle home Wednesday afternoon, DeKalb County police said.

The 38-year-old victim told police she left her home in the 1300 block of Oakridge Circle at about 12:35pm and returned at 1:30pm, the police report said. She found the cabinets in her living room, bathroom and bedroom open, leading her to believe her husband was home.

She realized her home had been burgled when she noticed the TV, computer and a brown and white Vera Bradley handbag, valued together at about $1,500, were missing.

The thief got into the house by breaking the bottom lock on the front door, the report said.

Landscaping equipment stolen from truck on Lavista Road
About $2,200 worth of landscaping equipment was stolen from a work truck parked in the apartment complex on Lavista Road on Wednesday afternoon, DeKalb County police said.

A commercial mower, a pole shear, a weedeater and an edger were taken from the enclosed box truck at 2075 Lavista Rd. between 9am and 10am, the police report said. The truck is owned by The RG Kelly Co. in Lawrenceville.
