Holiday Concerts at Lakeside High School
The free performances at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15 will feature students from Lakeside High School's band, chorus and orchestra programs.
Lakeside High School’s award-winning music departments will come together for two holiday-themed concerts at the DeKalb County School. Lakeside’s Band, Orchestra and Chorus will first perform a Holiday Pops Concert on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. in the school gym. This family-friendly, casual evening will feature Christmas songs and other seasonal favorites. On Friday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m., the Chorus, Orchestra and Band will join forces again for the annual Holiday Gala Concert in Lakeside’s Fine Arts Auditorium. The performance is free to the public and will feature a variety of classical, traditional and popular music.
“Lakeside’s music education opportunities for students and public performances are great benefits of living in this area,” said David Guthrie, president of the Lakeside Band Association. “So many local families have had kids participate in one or more of the music offerings at the school, and countless others have enjoyed the free concerts, parades and other public appearances by band, orchestra and chorus students. We are extremely fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated music staff at our public high school, and the high caliber of Lakeside’s music education is due to their efforts: David Fairchild, director of bands, Michael Giel, symphony orchestra director and Thomas FitzStephens, chorus director.”
