Nearly New Shop Will Close Its Doors On April 30

The Junior League of Atlanta's Nearly New Shop in Toco Hills will have a sendoff on Saturday, April 8.

ATLANTA, GA -- The Junior League of Atlanta’s Nearly New Shop will close Sunday, April 30, Patch has learned.

As a bookend to the consignment shop's long service to Atlanta, the site is hosting a store sendoff on Saturday, April 8. Prizes, giveaways, food and drinks will be offered along with discounts as high as 60 percent off.

The venerable thrift shop located in the Toco Hills Shopping Center will shut its doors after 68 years, as Patch reported in January.

The decision comes as Junior League chapters nationwide move away from consignment shops and concentrate on empowerment principles such as leadership training and community outreach.

“Nearly New has thrived for many years, enabling the Junior League of Atlanta to make a lasting impact on the local community,” JLA president Deanna Anderson said in a statement. “Anyone who shopped, or donated goods and volunteer hours, has helped to make the store a success. Unfortunately, multiple factors including increased competition, an ongoing decrease in revenue and the need to meet the evolving needs of our volunteers necessitated this decision.”
