Need to Get Rid of Your Christmas Tree?

The county government will take of that for you. You're also entitled to take advantage of your neighbors' trees – after they've been ground into mulch.

Don't know what to do with the dying Christmas tree dropping pine needles all over your carpet?

The DeKalb County government offers its help. As part of its "Bring One for the Chipper" program next month, the county said it will pick up discarded trees after the holidays for those households receiving sanitation services. Your tree should be placed at the curb on your normal trash pick-up days, according to a county statement.

Trees must be 7 feet or shorter. Anything taller must be cut in half before it's placed at the curb. The collected trees will be turned into mulch or used as part of a wildlife habitat. The program typically collects about 10,000 trees each year, the statement said.
