North Druid Hills Man Charged in Massive Tax Fraud Scheme

Clyde Chavo stole ID information from roughly 10,000 people and filed phony tax returns, DeKalb County officials said.

A North Druid Hills man has been charged with running a massive tax fraud scheme out of his rented home in a community off North Druid Hills Road, DeKalb County authorities said last week.

Clyde Chavo, 39, stole the ID information from about 10,000 people, created fake businesses and filed phony tax returns, illegally netting him hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Neighbors said they became suspicious over an unusual amount of traffic at the man's home.

“There were different cars going in and out,” resident Aaron Linzer told Channel 2. “I’m surprised about that in this neighborhood, because it’s just a good neighborhood.”

Chavo’s landlord alerted authorities after he spotted big stacks of mail that didn’t belong to the man.
