Northlake Mall Cancels Carnival
Citing concerns about issues with the carnival company at other Atlanta locations, the mall has decided to reschedule the carnival with a different vendor at a date to be announced.

has canceled the carnival that was , a mall spokesperson said Thursday.
The mall hired Mega Midways, a Georgia carnival company, through KevaWorks, a California amusement consulting firm, said Sarah Funderburk, a spokeswoman with BRAVE Public Relations, an Atlanta company that represents the mall. After KevaWorks learned of issues Mega Midways had managing other Atlanta-area carnivals, the company and the mall decided Tuesday to reschedule the carnival with a new company, Funderburk said.
She said she did not know specific problems area clients had with Mega Midways, and a KevaWorks representative did not immediately return a call for comment.

Maria Moore, the mall's manager, disputed that, however. Moore said KevaWorks told her the carnival would have to be postponed due to a scheduling conflict. She said she did not immediately remember who she spoke to at KevaWorks, but she said she was unaware of any issues Mega Midways had operating other carnivals. Mega Midways may be rehired when the carnival is rescheduled, Moore said.
A man who answered the phone at the carnival company and refused to give his full name also declined to comment.

The mall plans to reschedule the carnival for later this summer or the fall.
"I'm anxious to get a new date," Moore said. "It's a nice event for the community. Except for one year where we had a lot of rain, the turnout is always good. We get a lot of families."
