Police Respond to Spate of Armed Robberies Around Mercer University
Three robberies occurred from July 2 - 4 on either side of I-85 near the school's Atlanta campus.

DeKalb County police responded to three armed robberies this month around the area.
A 32-year-old man was on his way home in the 3200 block of Henderson Mill Road on July 2 when he was approached by a robber armed with a knife at about 11pm, the police report said.
"Give me your money," the suspect shouted, and the victim said he dropped two fans he was carrying and ran.

He told police the suspect ran the opposite direction toward Montage Way. Nothing was taken. The suspect was described as a black male about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slender build, the report said. He was wearing a white shirt, brown pants and a white baseball cap.
The next night, a 22-year-old man left his apartment and walked downstairs to get his cell phone from his car in the 3300 block of Aztec Road at about 11:40pm, the police report said. A black Honda Accord pulled up to him, and two men got out and approached him. One of the men put what the victim believed was a gun to his neck and said in Spanish, "Don't move. Put your hands up."

One of the men took his phone and $200 in cash from his pocket.
"Don't turn around," one of the men said.
Then one of them hit the victim in the back and kicked him in his left side. He watched the men run back to their car and drive away, the report said. The victim described one suspect as a Hispanic male about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slim build and brown skin. Based on their accents, the victim told police he believed they were Puerto Rican.
Roughly an hour later, a 29-year-old man was carrying items into his apartment in the 3200 block of Chamblee Tucker Road. It was about 1am, the police report said. Two suspects approached the man with a black handgun and hit him in the back of the head with the butt of the gun.
The two suspects took everything he had, including $700 in cash and a Toshiba laptop. The suspects left the scene on foot, headed northbound on Chamblee Tucker Road.
The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male about 5 feet 5 inches tall, about 130 pounds with short, black hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male about 6 feet tall, about 150 pounds with short, black hair. He was also wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.
