Residents Fighting for Safety Along North Druid Hills Road

A website pushing for improvements launched days after the Rev. Elward Willis was killed on the road May 12 when he crossed the center line.

Four days after the Rev. Elward Willis was k, a website launched.

It's called N. Druid Kills Road, and it's a call to residents of the North Druid Hills community to improve traffic safety along the community's oft-congested main thoroughfare. The site was started by the co-president of the North Druid Valley's homeowner association.

The stretch of N. Druid Hills Road between N. Valley Drive and N. Druid Hills Circle is treacherous.  There have been numerous fatal accidents, countless near-hits, and even pedestrians killed along this route.  The reason?  Increased speed, increased traffic volume, low turn visibility, and a dangerous curve.  This area is deadly and we need a change.

The site is asking for stories from residents and motorists who have dangerous stories about the road. Several of them have been posted on the site as well.
