School News: Lakeside Football Community Night; Recycle Old Legos

News from Henderson Middle School:
- Four 8th Graders New to Lakeside JV Softball Team! Congratulations to Andi Cunard, Tessa Guthrie, Kelly Roberts, and Tessa Whitaker for making the Lakeside High School Junior Varsity softball team! The JV season opens Monday, Aug. 26, with an away game against Chamblee. You can see the JV Lady Vikings in action at home at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28 when they take on Druid Hills. All home games will be played at Lakeside.
- Three 8th Graders Made Lakeside JV Volleyball Team! Congratulations to Natalie Boyd, Gabrielle Morse, and Katherine Spetseris for making the Lakeside High School Junior Varsity Volleyball team! The following home games are FREE and will be played on Sept. 9, 11 and 16 starting at 5 p.m. For a full schedule, visit www.lakesidevolleyball.com
- School Council Election - August 22 Local School Councils were established by the Georgia Legislature several years ago to ensure shared decision making in our public schools. Henderson's Council is comprised of a principal, two certified teachers, two parent businesspersons and two parent/guardians. An election will be held Aug. 22 to fill two open parent and/or parent business seats on the Council. If you are interested in serving or wish to nominate a candidate, please write a brief paragraph (no more than 100 words) in support of your nominee. Bring it to the school office by the close of school on August 21st. The election will be held the next day from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Minutes from recent meetings are posted on the bulletin board outside the teacher workroom on the 100 hall. - Save the Date: LHS Football Community Night On Sept. 6 at 5 p.m., the Lakeside Touchdown Club will host Community Night for all feeder schools during the LHS vs. Dunwoody football game at Adams Stadium. More details to come.
Recycle Your Old Legos: Oak Grove Elementary is gratefully accepting donations of legos - any size, shape, or amount. We are creating student kits for engineering-based activities. If you have any legos that are no longer being used, please drop them off in the front office at any point. Thanks!
