When/Where: Tomorrow from noon - 1:30pm at on Briarcliff Road
Why Go: A Whole Foods healthy eating specialist will showcase a delicious and easy way to get your greens… in a smoothie! Stop by on your lunch break each Friday to try the smoothie of the week.
When/Where: Saturday from 9am - 11am at Java Blues on LaVista Road
Why Go: Meet at Java Blues in LaVista Walk for breakfast and coffee before splitting into teams to pick up trash along the Lindbergh LaVista Corridor. Wear comfy shoes and bring gloves. At the end of the competition, the neighborhood that 1) recruits the most volunteers, 2) bags the most trash and 3) shows the most team spirit, wins.
When/Where: Saturday at 7pm at Holy Cross Catholic Church
Why Go: The Sentimental Journey Orchestra is made up of people from all walks of life and all age groups. There's a 40-year span between the youngest and oldest band members, according to the orchestra's website. The one common thread among them is an abiding love of the sound made by the classic Big Band.
When/Where: Saturday from 3pm - 4pm at Northlake-Barbara Loar Library
Why Go: Are you looking for something great to read and don't know where to start? Let us help you fall in love with a book or two! We will provide a timer and variety of books. All you need to do is get to know them a little better and decide which ones you would like to take home. Light snacks will be provided.
When/Where: Saturday at 11am at Picadilly
Why Go: This could be a bust, particularly if you're not in the Navy. But it could also end up being totally awesome for that very same reason.
