Extra Special People Seeks Local Cyclists

A news release by Kylee Piatczyc:

Extra Special People goes the extra mile when it comes to sending children with disabilities to summer camp, and now local cyclists have the chance to help.

On Oct. 21., Extra Special People, Inc., (ESP) will take part in a fundraising bike ride at Camp Twin Lakes. ESP is seeking adult cyclists to participate in the fundraiser in an effort to raise funds for Camp Twin Lakes and its partners. In the seventh annual Spin for Kids charity bike ride, adult bikers have the chance to register with the ESP team to ride 5-, 27-, 47-, 62-, or 100 miles on five different routes through rural Northeast Georgia for a $35 registration fee and required additional $100 of raised funds.

Funds raised by cyclists riding for Team ESP will go towards offsetting the costs ESP pays to Camp Twin Lakes, allowing children the opportunity to attend camp. Each summer, ESP hosts a seven-week long summer camp where ESP campers thrive in a safe environment, increasing independence, building confidence and participating in typical camp activities.

“Every child should be afforded the opportunity to go to camp,” said Kathleen Miller, captain of ESP Spin for Kids team. “Working in partnership with ESP, Camp Twin Lakes
provides life-changing experiences to children with serious illnesses and life challenges at various locations throughout the state of Georgia; it helps campers to overcome obstacles and grow in their confidence and capabilities.”
Participants can join the ESP team by registering at spinforkids.org or at the race site on the day of the race. For additional information, contact Jordan Beaman at jordan@extraspecialpeople.com.
