
Oconee County Middle School will host a veterans appreciation event at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 9, in the school's gymnasium. Musical selections will be performed by the OCMS symphonic band and the Decatens. A reception hosted by the student council will be held in the library following the program.
The featured speaker will be David Williams. Mr. Williams is a lifelong resident of Oconee County and graduate of Oconee County High School. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Georgia. A veteran of the United States Army Engineer Command, Mr. Williams served two combat tours in Vietnam. His decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. David’s wife, Martha, and daughters Erin and Tiffany are also graduates of Oconee County High School.Â
