Door-to-Door Salesmen Taken Into Custody on Probation Violation Warrants

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office reports the men, one from Augusta and the other from Tenille, were wanted in Clayton and Morgan counties, respectively.

Oconee County deputies detained two wanted men who were going door-to-door selling pine straw on Tangle Drive Monday around 4 p.m.

On more than one occasion, deputies have warned different groups selling items without proper licenses to cease operations and asked area residents to report suspicious activity if they spotted the vendors again, Chief Deputy Lee Weems said.

On Monday, one of the residents called the Sheriff's Office to report that a group of vendors was back in the area, according to a news release, and deputies identified the suspects as wanted men and took them into custody.
