Mill Creek downs NOHS; Titans bounce back against Rams

Next Tuesday North Oconee tennis teams host East Jackson in a Region 8-AA contest.

The boys and girls tennis teams fell to 5A Mill Creek on Wednesday.  The 6-1 Lady Titans fell at all positions, losing their first match of the year.  The 5-2 Titan boys kept the match against the Eagles close as Peter Bertran won at No. 1 singles and Ray Donovan at No. 3, but lost at the remaining spots.    

On Thursday North Oconee got back on the winning track by downing 5A Grayson.  The Lady Titans bested the Lady Rams and improved to 7-1 overall.  Becca Bruning won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.  Alex Barone and Amber Hudson outlasted their opponents at No. 1 doubles 7-5, 6-4, and at No. 2 Cammi Shaffer and Lana Livesay teamed up for a 6-0, 8-6 win.

The Titan boys won at all positions except No. 2 doubles, and improved their overall record to 6-2.  At No. 1 singles Peter Bertran blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0; Ray Donovan won at No. 2 6-0, 6-0, and senior Kerry Nozum took No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-4.  The No. 1 doubles tandem of Seth Taylor and Jeff Bautista kept the winning ways going, beating their Ram opponents 6-0, 6-1.           

Next Tuesday North Oconee hosts East Jackson in a Region 8-AA contest.
