Welcome, October (and the rain). It's time for winter sports and activities registration at the Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department.
Weather: The first day of October brings rain and cooler temperatures. According to the Weather Channel's forecast, showers will stick around most of the day with rainfall totals amounting to near a quarter of an inch. A high of 70 degrees is expected.

- The registration period for winter sports and activities offered by the Oconee County Parks are Recreation Department opens today. Visit the OCPR website or sign up in person at Oconee Veterans Park.
- The Oconee County Board of Education meets for a work session at 4:30 p.m. According to the agenda, the Board will consider adopting a resolution in " Support of Quality Georgia Public Education." See the complete draft of the agenda.
