Watkinsville Police: Two Cars Collide With Animals

In his weekly news release, O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending March 4.

• A 2005 Nissan Altima struck an animal on Whitehall Road at Spring Circle around 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 28 causing damage to the car. The 38-year-old Watkinsville driver never actually saw the animal and it ran away. The driver was not injured.

• Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, police were dispatched to a domestic situation at a Cedar Drive address.  A 13-year-old girl was charged with simple battery after repeatedly striking a 12-year-old girl during a heated argument. The case will be heard in Oconee County Juvenile Court.

• A 2008 Ford Ranger struck a large deer on North Main Street at White Street on March 1 around 1 p.m. causing extensive damage to the truck. The driver, a 42-year-old Pendegrass man, was not injured.

• At 7 p.m. Thursday evening police were called to an on-going domestic situation at a Hight Drive address.  A 24-year-old Bogart man was served with a written notice to stay away from the property. The on-going dispute stems from a mutual girlfriend.

Police responded to a total of 28 calls within city limits between Monday, Feb. 27 and Sunday, March 4.
