According to the Gwinnett Police Department, Coleman was shot and killed during an attempted carjacking on July 10 in Peachtree Corners.

Officers responded around 12:30 p.m. to the 5000 block of Peachtree Parkway and found a man lying near a black car by a gas station's air pumps.

Police said Coleman was trying to put air in his tires when a black four-door car with three people in it pulled up in the parking spot next to his. Then, one of the three people got out of the car and jumped into the driver's seat of Coleman's car.

Though he attempted to stop his car from being stolen, police said an altercation ensued during which a second suspect became involved.

"While this was occurring, the driver of another vehicle (not knowing that the crime was taking place) positioned his vehicle so that he could utilize the air pump once the victim was done. In doing so, his vehicle was directly behind the victim’s car," police said in a news release.

A suspect tried to back up Coleman's car but hit the other car that was waiting for the pump, police said. The suspect got out of Coleman's car and one of the three suspects shot Coleman, police said.

Gwinnett police said Friday they believe they have all suspects in custody.
