Best-Selling Author Mary Alice Monroe To Speak in Peachtree Corners

Monroe will appear Saturday at Christ the King Lutheran Church.

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA — New York Times best-selling author Mary Alice Monroe will be speaking and signing books Saturday in Peachtree Corners.

Monroe will appear at 7:30 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church fellowship hall, at 5575 Peachtree Parkway.

Monroe, author of such novels as "The Butterfly's Daughter," "The Beach House" and "A Lowcountry Christmas," is known for a brand of environmental fiction she developed after moving to coastal South Carolina.

Already a successful author, Monroe says she was captivated by both the beauty and fragility of her new home.

She has received numerous awards, including several Readers’ Choice Awards; the 2014 SC Book Festival Award for Excellence in Writing; the 2015 SW Florida Book Festival Distinguished Author Award; RT Lifetime Achievement Award; and the 2008 South Carolina Center for the Book Award for Writing.

In 2011, "The Butterfly's Daughter" won the International Book Award for Green Fiction. It was also selected as a finalist for the 2012 Book of the Year by the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA).

"The Beach House" has been adapted into a Hallmark Channel Original Movie, starring three-time Golden Globe nominee Andie MacDowell.

The appearance is sponsored by North Georgia Reads, a collaboration between 46 libraries in the region devoted to bringing best-selling authors to the area.
