The future looks bright for Peachtree Corners, new businesses continue to open, regional and national corporations are locating here – and new families are buying homes and settling in to enjoy our high quality of life. And in the spring we will be breaking ground on the City’s new Town Center. But we also know that the new amenity -- and all of our growth -- will undoubtedly bring an increase in traffic.

To stay ahead of the curve, we have approved the study of several key intersections to find ways to relieve the congestion and prepare for the future increase in the number of vehicles traveling through our city. We will also be partnering with the City of Johns Creek to study ways to improve traffic flow along S.R. 141.

The intersections that will be the focus of our study are:

Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Holcomb Bridge Road – The City will work with Gwinnett County Department of Transportation to improve signal timing by aligning the intersections existing left turn lanes and improving pedestrian crossings.

The study will also look at four intersections along S.R. 141:

Spalding Drive

Peachtree Corners Circle

The Forum and Town Center entrances

East Jones Bridge Road

At these intersections, we’ll be looking at innovative ways to keep traffic moving by considering reconfiguring several of the intersections and making signal timing improvements.

The City is also studying ways to improve the Peachtree Corners Circle and Medlock Bridge Road intersection and will consider a traffic roundabout as a way to allow traffic from Peachtree Corners Circle to more easily merge onto Medlock Bridge Road.

The City will also look at the Peachtree Corners Circle and Eastman Trail intersection for ways to improve pedestrian safety.

In addition, we’re looking at ways to make Holcomb Bridge Road safer for pedestrians by adding crosswalks at key locations and filling in missing sidewalk gaps.

Our first road improvement project is already underway on Winters Chapel Road. With the help of a state grant, this roadway will be upgraded with new sidewalks, street lights, crosswalks and other pedestrian-friendly amenities.

Where ever possible, the city will use SPLOST money to fund the construction of all of the other traffic improvements.

Thank you for your continued confidence as we strive to find innovative ways to improve traffic in our great City.
