GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Here is the "end of watch" obituary for Officer Antwan Toney, who gave his life to protect the Gwinnett County community.

Following funeral services for slain-on-duty Gwinnett County Police Officer Antwan Toney, there will be a procession beginning at 12Stone and concluding at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home at 5051 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Peachtree Corners. The procession will consist of the hearse, family, Gwinnett County Police Department personnel and other officers from the law enforcement community.

Antwan DeArvis Toney was born October 17, 1988, in Inglewood, CA. In his younger years, he served as a Boy Scout, Police Cadet and was a part of the Orange County Police Explorers Program. Officer Toney graduated from El Modena High School in 2006. Antwan accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of City of Refuge formally known as Greater Bethany and Avalon Zion Foursquare Church. During his spare time, Officer Toney loved volunteering with the local youth in Georgia. Youwould often find him playing basketball and mentoring whenever and however he could.

In 2016, Officer Toney graduated from the Gwinnett Police Department's 94th Academy on April 21, 2016 along with 25 other Cadets. He was just six days shy of celebrating his three-year anniversary with the department.

Officer Toney was loved by all who knew him. He was a guiding light to so many and definitely knew the true meaning of living life to the fullest. His family cherishes the fact that just weeks ago they were able to travel from near and far to laugh, dance, and sing with him to celebrate his 30th birthday.Police Officer Toney, 30, of Southern California answered his final call of duty on Saturday, October 20, 2018.

He was preceded in death by two Grandfathers, Sidney Chambers and Carl Johnson Sr., and his Grandmother, Buelah Johnson. He is survived by his Mother, Antoinette Page; Father, Anthony Toney; Step-Father, Carl Johnson; Grandfather Frank Toney; Siblings, Sherharazzar Johnson, Carla Johnson and Dartangan Johnson (Whitney); Nieces, Marshe' Huang, Nola Johnson, Maui Cobb; Godson Kaleb Law, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at 12Stone church in Lawrenceville, GA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory. Another Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Los Angeles, CA.
