Here are the top four stories in Roswell today:
- On March 14 a local man reported to the Roswell Police Department that he was being sexually and monetarily extorted after his Snapchat account was hacked. He told police that he was approached by a woman via Instagram who asked for his username on Snapchat. After giving out his username, he was denied access to his account until he changed his password. After creating a new password and logging into his account, he was messaged by the same woman who had recovered nude photos from his account. She threatened to distribute the photos to people he knows unless he paid $300. He sent over $50 and promised to pay the rest by the end of the week. The police department advised that he block the individual on all platforms and to let them know if she contacts him again. (appenmedia.com)
- A Roswell family recently experienced the effects of a horrible accident that could have potentially been fatal. The family was inside their Roswell residence while a car was being repossessed outside. While the employee from Dismuke Recovery was in the process of reclaiming the vehicle, the car somehow fell from the street at the top of the driveway. The car then rolled through the family's gate and crashed into their living room. “It was alarming because I hear a loud crashing sound. It sounded like the house fell on top of itself. And then I’m hearing screaming. My wife is screaming, my baby is screaming. So, I was thinking that the baby got hurt,” the homeowner said. Thankfully, no one was injured. They received an apology from the repo man and the company has offered to covered the cost to repair their home. (atlantanewsfirst.com)
- Tools valued at $4,700 were reported stolen from a construction site located on the corner of Fraser Street and Alpharetta Street. The theft was reported on Monday, March 13. Workers from the site noticed that a gear box had been broken into sometime during the previous weekend. A rotary laser, line laser, body harnesses and other items were taken. Security footage from the scene could not be accessed and the case is still under investigation. (appenmedia.com)
- The Annual Spring Native Plant Sale at the Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) will begin on March 31. Those who have memberships to the CNC will have early access to the sale on March 30. The sale will offer over 100 varieties of plants and seedlings of herbs and vegetables. Garden pros and horticulturists will be onsite to help shoppers select the perfect items to attract birds, bees, and other pollinators to their gardens. The Spring Native Plant Sale will also continue on April 1, April 7, and April 8. (newsbreak.com)
