- The Roswell Music Festival will be coming to town this month. Six musically diverse bands will perform during this one-day extravaganza on Saturday, May 20 in Downtown Roswell. Some of the bands are tribute bands who cover past hits from different genres such as blues, country and western, funk, and classic rock. Other bands will share their original music. This is a ticketed event; however, General Admission beer sales will be provided by Gate City Brewing. There are still opportunities available to sponsor the festival; some of the proceeds from the event will go to the nonprofit organization, Gold Star Mentors. (adventuresinatlanta.com)
- Former mayors, city leaders, state representatives, family, and residents alike are remembering the spirit and successes of former Roswell mayor, William Lee “Pug” Mabry. In addition to being Roswell's mayor for over 30 years, Mabry was also a field operations overseer for Flagler Construction Company for more than 40 years, and a longtime member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Roswell. “Mayor Pug Mabry devoted his life to Roswell and to bettering our city in extraordinary ways,” Mayor Kurt Wilson expressed in a statement following his death. Mabry's successor, Former Mayor Jere Wood also shared sentiments of Mabry's dedication and influence on the city; he also stated that Pug Mabry built the "foundation for modern Roswell.” Georgia State Rep. Chuck Martin also shared his condolences and fond memories of the former community leader.
