Community-Driven Roswell Student Wins Scholarship

Cameron Koporc created a fundraising campaign to help save sea turtles

A Roswell student who makes a positive impact in metro Atlanta through volunteerism has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program.

Fascinated by sea turtles and dreaming of becoming a marine biologist, Cameron
Koporc created a fundraising campaign called “Turtles for Turtles” that has donated more than $500 to educate others on how to help save sea turtles, according to Kohl's. The 9-year-old has also written and illustrated a book about the animals.

That, Kohl's officials said this morning in a statement, is why Cameron was named one of 200 regional winners. Regional winners are eligible for one of Kohl’s 10 national scholarships, which will be announced at the end of this month.

National winners will each receive a total of $10,000 in scholarships. Additionally, Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.
