📰 News we're reading

1. Health inspection scores for Cobb County restaurants and other food services from December 19 to December 25 (cobbcountycourier.com) — Several Roswell eateries, including Smokehouse Q, Tokyo Boat, Lucia’s Italian Restaurant, and Movie Tavern, just received new Cobb County health inspection scores. Most scored in the mid-90s or higher, but a few dipped into the 80s, giving Roswell diners timely insight into recent food safety performance before their next meal out.

2. Police investigate Pokémon card fraud (appenmedia.com) — Roswell police are pursuing charges after a local trading card shop off Holcomb Bridge Road reported a $1,000 Pokémon card bought with a stolen credit card. A 19-year-old Roswell shop owner helped investigators with ID photos and video, and warrants are now issued while the case remains active.

3. Miami Using Current Momentum to Build Strong Favorites in the 2027 Class (star-telegram.com) — Roswell football fans will recognize Blessed Trinity edge rusher David Jacobs, who’s being projected as a top national recruit and a likely cornerstone of Miami’s 2027 signing class. Despite an offer from his in-state Georgia Bulldogs, analysts currently see him leaning toward the Hurricanes, underscoring how much high-level talent is emerging from Roswell’s prep football scene.

4. Metro Atlanta among fastest areas to save for a home down payment (wsbradio.com) — Homebuyers in the Atlanta–Sandy Springs–Roswell metro area are now saving for down payments in just under five years, beating the national average of about seven years. For Roswell residents, that’s encouraging news, though higher prices, inflation, and competition still make saving challenging and keep timelines roughly double pre-pandemic norms.
