Here are the top three stories today in Roswell:
- The group, Ongoing Conversation, is showcasing a group art exhibit called "Assembly Point" at the Roswell Visual Arts Center. Ongoing Conversation is a space where artists from different backgrounds can display their work globally. The groups strives to "bring together disparate voices in the visual arts through an international purview in order to examine cross-cultural similarities of the human condition." The exhibition opened on April 14 and will run through May 18. There is no charge for admission, and there will also be an art sale conducted during viewings. (facebook.com)
- The Roswell Music Festival will be returning to the city on May 20. Six bands will be sharing their music with attendees on this one-day event. Music genres will include everything from soul, funk, classic rock, country, and blues. General admission beer sales will be provided by Gate City Brewing. Local vendors and restaurants will sell food and other goods. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. A portion of the funds received will benefit the Gold Star Mentors. (Press Release Desk)
- The Chattahoochee Nature Center will be presenting the 24th Annual Flying Colors Butterfly Festival on June 3 and June 4. This festival ushers in the nature center's Butterfly Encounter, where numerous butterflies will be enclosed in a greenhouse where they can be viewed and admired by visitors. The festival will not only showcase butterflies, but will also feature other pollinators such as bees and birds. The center's experts will be on hand to help visitors understand pollinators help maintain a healthy ecosystem. This weekend event is for the entire family, including many activities for children. Tickets will go on sale beginning May 3, however, members of the nature center can purchase presale tickets on April 26. (newsbreak.com)

- Hembree Springs Elementary: At the North Fulton Presidents & Principals Luncheon earlier this week, Hembree Springs Elementary school and their PTA received multiple grants & awards. The elementary school and their PTA was bestowed with the Connect with Council & Model PTA award. They were also awarded educational grants for STEM and SEL activities. - City of Roswell, Georgia Government: The City of Roswell looking for a Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Division Manager to assist with the Bond Program. The CIP Program Management Division establishes and manages the completion of various capital improvement projects for the city, This entails everything from planning the projects, the projects design and construction, to the actual rollout of the particular project. - City of Roswell, Georgia Fire Department: It's week 9 for the spring session of the Roswell Fire Citizens Academy. This week the students participated in a mock news conference. They were able to experience firsthand how Public Information Officers communicate with the public during times of catastrophes and public emergencies. - Centennial Knights Athletics: A huge congratulations goes to Centennial High School's girls tennis team. The team has won the regional championship for high school tennis. Way to go Lady Knights! (Centennial Knights Athletics via Twitter)
- Roswell, Georgia Special Events: Alive In Roswell begins next Thursday evening. In preparation of the festivities, the city will be closing several streets in the area that afternoon. Park Square Ct., Elizabeth Way, and portions of Webb St. will close at 2:00 PM. The Antique and Interiors Lot and the remaining portion of Webb St. will close at 3:30 PM.
