Here are the top stories in Roswell today:
- The Roswell Fire Department currently has three ladder trucks, and they reserve one ladder truck to use when the others are being serviced or repaired. One of the department's ladder trucks is 22 years old and has accumulated over 110,000 miles on it. Therefore, the Roswell City Council recently approved $1,449,853 for replacement of the firetruck. Now the department will have four ladder trucks. This fourth vehicle will be designated for service to the northern part of the city. (Fire Apparatus Magazine)
- An 82-year-old Roswell woman reported to the Roswell Police Department that she is the victim of recent identity fraud. She said she had received mail over the course of multiple weeks regarding a Range Rover purchased in her name that had also received a speeding ticket in a school zone in her name as well. The elderly woman also said that a license plate for the Range Rover, a letter that says she has $2,900 line of credit, and another letter regarding a $54,972 charge for the vehicle was sent to her. She told police that she did not purchase the car and is concerned that accounts were opened in her name and is that her credit is being ruined. She gave police the license plate she received, and will press charges. (Appen Media)
- Roswell's North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) will be holding a celebration to commemorate 40 years of service to the community. The nonprofit opened in 1983 and nonprofit helps residents in Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park and Roswell with food, clothing, financial assistance, and with education in work-life skills. “The North Fulton community — its residents and faith, civic and business communities — has supported NFCC throughout its 40 years, so we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than throwing a community event open to all,” Executive Director Sandy Holiday said. The anniversary celebration will be held on Friday, June 23, outside of NFCC's gift shop and will include a live DJ, food trucks, games, giveaways, and much more. (Newsbreak)
