Here are the top stories in Roswell today:
- A public hearing is set for Tuesday, June 20 at City Hall. The Planning Commission will consider a proposal to make an amendment to the Unified Development Code. They will specifically discuss changing certain text within Article 10 of the city's Unified Development Code. The meeting will be open to citizens, and a physical copy of the file in question is available for the public's view at the Roswell Planning & Zoning Office or on their website. (Alpharetta-Roswell Herald)
- Residents in the Roswell neighborhood who received antisemitic literature at the homes over the weekend have since then worked to clean up their community. One resident told Channel 2 Action News that she herself had picked-up over than 200 flyers. They are also working with the Roswell Police Department, who is investigating for any possible criminal intent. The Southeast Regional director of the Anti-Defamation League attributes this recent spread of hate mail to the "activity of white supremacist hate groups." State Representative Esther Panitch, the only Jewish member of the Georgia House, also received one of the flyers. (Newsbreak)
- At the recent committee meeting on May 23, City Administrator Randy Knighton was given the job of developing a plan for the task force and its selection process. Knighton presented the City Council with his recommendations for the membership of the group on May 30. Councilman Peter Vanstrom believes the creation of the task force is rushed; however, the mayor disagrees. He wants the city's task force to be ready by the time the business owners' task force is developed. Next the City Administrator will bring forth a document that creates a "necessary apparatus" for the City Council to review. (Alpharetta-Roswell Herald)
