Last year, more than 300 community members joined with to raise almost $20,000 through the inaugural Power of Pink event—a charity luncheon, fashion show, and silent auction—to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Greater Atlanta Affiliate.
This year, the hospital hopes to surpass last year’s impressive total at the second-annual Power of Pink event, which will be held Friday, Sept. 21.
“Last year, North Fulton Hospital, our sponsors, and our community took a stand against breast cancer through this wonderful event, and now we’re ready to do it again,” says Dr. Laura Rivers Pearson, Breast Surgeon and Medical Director of the North Fulton Hospital Breast Program. “Together we can help to increase awareness and help our community understand the importance of screenings and physician examinations. Early detection can make all the difference.”

Power of Pink is one of the first Susan G. Komen fundraising events to be held in North Fulton County and last year’s donation marked the largest amount of funds ever raised at an Atlanta-metro Komen event outside the city of Atlanta. The money raised at Power of Pink provides support to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as to fund research to help find a cure. In fact, 75 percent of all funds raised for Komen Atlanta stay in the area and go toward local screenings, treatment and support programs.
Attendees of Power of Pink will be treated to a gourmet luncheon and a dynamic fashion featuring breast cancer survivors who will model fall clothing pieces from Dillard’s Department Store. A silent auction also will run throughout the event and offer unique items generously donated by local businesses and other companies wanting to support the cause.
