Roswell Police To Host Drug Take-Back Day

This free event will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Roswell Recycling Center.

ROSWELL, GA — The Roswell Police Department will soon provide you with a chance to anonymously dispose of unwanted prescription or non-prescription drugs.

The Police Department's Drug Take-Back Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Roswell Recycling Center. Roswell police are partnering with WellStar North Fulton Hospital, which will be on hand to collect your sharps and needles.

This service is free, and is part of the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Drug Take Back Day, which educates the public about the potential for abuse of these medications if they languish in a person's home.

According to the 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.2 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs, the DEA states on its website. A majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. These drug take back events are designed to prevent drug addiction and deaths from overdose.
