The Drake House Could Use Some Holiday Help
The Drake House's Holiday Needs program has a few easy ways for anyone to help out this holiday season.

The holiday season is upon us and several local charities could use an extra boost, including the Drake House, which is asking locals for donations and their time.
Volunteer and Resource Coordinator Lynn Canty told Roswell Patch the Drake House's ongoing needs to support the families living there are specifically: gift cards to local businesses, people to volunteer their time and food pantry items.
The "cards are easy to store, as space is at a premium for us and we are able to assist in numerous ways with them," she said. "They can provide for a prescription for a sick child, buy undergarments or shoes for a mom or child, assist with a clothing item needed for a school uniform or work uniform, buy perishable groceries for the food pantry or other pantry items we may run out of, replace printer ink and paper for school assignments or resumes and can purchase parts for a repair at the apartments or office."

"Community Partners" who sponsor the Drake House apartments provide a modest Christmas for the families they have been assisting.
"However we need your help to meet the on going needs of our homeless families," Canty said.

The Drake House's holiday wish is for gift cards to Wal-Mart, Kroger, Home Depot, or Office Depot. Other ways to assist would be through donating a used car or making a monetary donation towards the organization's Technology Fund.
