Here are the top threestories today in Roswell:

  1. Later this month law enforcement agencies across the region will be collecting prescription drugs that are unused and/or expired. The DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is on April 22. On this day people can take their old and unused medications to participating police departments and/or other designated locations. Drug Take Back Day is held bi-annually in April and October. The DEA implemented this day to help prevent the misuse of prescription drugs. Per the DEA, at their April 2022 event, communities across the U.S. received over 720,000 pounds of medication. If you have any prescription medication that unused, expired, or unwanted, the Roswell Police Department can help take them off your hands and will dispose of them safely. The department will be collecting medication on Saturday, April 22 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Kroger on E Crossville Rd. (Paywall: ajc.com)
  2. There will be a public hearing at the April 24 Mayor and City Council Meeting at City Hall. One of the main topics of this hearing will be the city's request to grant landmark designation to Mimosa Hall. This landmark designation will specifically relate to a museum building for the hall. Their will be a full report on file that is available for public viewing at the Roswell Planning and Zoning Office. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM in the Roswell City Hall Council Chambers. 3. A k-9 officer has died on Wednesday April, 5 in neighboring Alpharetta. The announcement was made on Thursday, April 6 by Alpharetta Public Safety. K-9 Officer Arnold began his service in 2007 and was one of the longest-serving dogs in the unit. Major Lindgren was Officer Arnold's handler for the past eight years. Major Lindgren was there with the department when the public announcement was made and shared some of his favorite photos of his partner and friend. The City of Alpharetta expressed their sympathy for Major Lindgren and his family in regards to the passing of K-9 Arnold. (11alive.com)
