Who should you turn to in a rapidly changing real estate market?

If you needed a complex medical procedure, would you choose a doctor fresh out of med school — or one with years of experience who’d done the procedure successfully hundreds of times?

The answer of course is obvious: experience matters. The same is true for the largest financial transaction of your life: the buying and selling of a home — even more so in today’s complex and fast-changing real estate market.

Here are the top four stories in Roswell today:

  1. Weapons, ammunition and other items valued at $2,715 were reported stolen from a Roswell home on March 19. The resident was not home on the evening of March 18 and when he returned to his house around 1:00 AM on March 19, he found several items missing and his home in disarray. A rifle, a shotgun, two magazines, a handgun, ammunition, a headset and a PlayStation 5 were taken. The victim of the theft has a roommate who had been out of town since March 16. The roommate's bedroom was undisturbed. The man told police that he believes the burglar likely entered the residence through the back door that he keeps closed but unlocked. (appenmedia.com)
  2. The local family whose car barreled into their home last week while being repossessed, has found themselves in a tough situation. The family was already going through uneasy financial times and the repossession was even harder. The driver of the tow truck did not secure the car while it was being reclaimed, which caused the vehicle to roll down the driveway before smashing into the house. Now the family is without a car and is staying in a hotel in a state of limbo. They were initially told that a resolution and remediation would take three weeks. Now the issue is held up in litigation while companies try to determine who is at fault. (11alive.com)
  3. At Monday's City Council meeting, a 5-1 vote was made that approved the changes to Roswell's Open Records Request policy. Now requesting individuals and entities will have to give names and addresses that can be verified in order to receive public records. The city says the change is needed as they have allotted substantial time and resources to respond to and process open records requests from entities that legally do not exist, or to the requests where false addresses were given. Public records will now be mailed or delivered electronically to people and/or entities that give verifiable names and addresses. The ability to remain anonymous or use aliases is still given, however, those who do so must come to City Hall in-person. They will be able to review and copy public documents. The City of Roswell will collect the fees required to search, retrieve, redact and the cost for copying per Georgia law. Sarah Beeson was the only councilmember to vote against the policy change. 4. On March 29, Roswell High School senior Anthonie Knapp was expected to officially announce his commitment decision. He was scheduled to make his announcement on the 247Sports Youtube Channel. Even though it's almost certain amongst the college football world that Knapp will sign with Notre Dame, no one knows for sure who he has chosen. Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, Penn State and the University of North Carolina are premier on the list of contenders. Knapp was commanding left tackle during Roswell's fall season and stood out in the Georgia 6A all-region. (247sports.com)
