- The 2023 Academy Awards have generated a lot of excitement, particularly in the Savannah area, due to various connections to the region. These connections include movie screenings, film locations, and the involvement of SCAD alumni in the production of major films, which positions the Savannah area as a significant contributor to the film industry. Consequently, the Savannah region remains a crucial player in the movie industry. (WSAV-TV)
- St. Patrick's Day is being celebrated in Savannah, including at the Riverview Health and Rehabilitation Center. On Wednesday, the facility had its own parade with participation from city officials, employees, and residents. The parade featured floats, costumes, and the crowning of a queen and king. (WTOC)
- The Georgia Ports Authority has achieved its highest-ever national market share, handling one in every 8.8 loaded twenty-foot equivalent container units in the U.S., according to PIERS. The Port of Savannah moved over 2 million TEUs, accounting for 11.4 percent of the nation's loaded international containers. This resulted in a 0.7 percent increase in market share from the previous year, which translates to almost 120,000 more TEUs moved than at its previous market share. (Augusta CEO)
