Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:

1. The 2023 Academy Awards have generated a lot of excitement, particularly in the Savannah area, due to various connections to the region. These connections include movie screenings, film locations, and the involvement of SCAD alumni in the production of major films, which positions the Savannah area as a significant contributor to the film industry. 3. The Georgia Ports Authority has achieved its highest-ever national market share, handling one in every 8.8 loaded twenty-foot equivalent container units in the U.S., according to PIERS. The Port of Savannah moved over 2 million TEUs, accounting for 11.4 percent of the nation's loaded international containers.
