'Savannah Figurative' exhibit to showcase process studies of eight artists (savannahnow.com) — Savannah art lovers can look forward to “Savannah Figurative,” a new exhibit at Cute Tomatoes Gallery running Jan. 9–Feb. 20, 2026, showcasing process studies and finished works by eight figurative artists. Centered on Savannah Open Model’s life-drawing community, the show includes panels, demos, and Saturday artist sessions that highlight the city’s growing figurative art scene and professional art modeling.
   

2. Savannah-Chatham County schools approve new phone policy for students (wtoc.com) — Savannah-Chatham County public schools have adopted a stricter phone and electronics policy that will change how students use devices during the school day. K–8 students must keep devices powered off in approved storage all day, while high schoolers can only access them outside instructional time or with staff approval. The rules also tighten procedures during testing, field trips, and extracurriculars.
   

3. Approximately 2,200 degrees conferred during Georgia Southern's 2025 Fall Commencement ceremonies (griceconnect.com) — Georgia Southern University just celebrated its Fall 2025 commencement at Savannah’s Enmarket Arena, where hundreds of local graduates walked alongside classmates from Statesboro and Hinesville. Speakers, including a Home Depot executive and an Emmy-winning sports anchor, shared stories about resilience, unexpected opportunities, and the long-term value of a Georgia Southern degree that many Savannah-area families count on.
   

4. Ghost Pirates Rally for 3-2 Win Over Florida (prohockeynews.com) — Savannah Ghost Pirates fans saw a big home win as the team snapped the Florida Everblades’ seven-game streak with a 3–2 comeback victory, capped by Ryan Sullivan’s third-period power-play goal. Goalie Vinnie Pupura stopped 35 of 37 shots, and the teams face off again tomorrow night in Savannah for game two of the three-game set.
