  1. The trial for two individuals accused of killing a British tourist in Savannah last year is scheduled to start on Monday. The crime occurred on Apr. 24, 2022, in the early morning near a store on West Bay Street near River Street in the 500 block. The victim, 27-year-old Benjamin Tucker, was visiting family for a month in the city when he was allegedly murdered by suspects Georgiamae Lawrence and Corey Reynolds Kent. (WJCL News Savannah)
  2. Philip Dukes is the associate artistic director for the 2023 Savannah Music Festival. After bringing people together at the previous festival, Dukes aims to continue the community of the festival and provide a program that includes some renowned chamber music performers. He said he plans to feature "heavyweights of chamber music" in the upcoming festival this year. (Subscription: Savannah Morning News)
  3. The Savannah Chatham County Public Schools (SCCPSS) has initiated its search for a new superintendent. The community is looking for a leader who is empathetic and dedicated to the entire district. SCCPSS board members and McMillan and Associates held an initial information session at Jenkins High School, during which attendees were asked to complete a survey regarding the desired qualities, experience, and skills of the next superintendent.   • Four Savannah Police Department (SPD) officers were promoted to the rank of major and assistant chief during a badge-pinning ceremony at the Savannah Civic Center on Mar. 14. DeVonn Adams and Robert Gavin were appointed assistant chief, while Michelle Halford and Shinita Young were appointed to major. Each officer has over 20 years of experience in SPD, and their new roles will involve leading and managing various departments within the police force. (Savannah Police Department via Facebook)
