  2. Savannah native Nailyah Serenity has reached the Top 24 on American Idol. Although she is now based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Serenity credits her musical chops to what she learned singing with First Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. She earned a standing ovation for her rendition of "Superstar" by Luther Vandross this week. To catch her next performance, viewers can tune into "American Idol" on Sundays at 8:00 p.m. on WJCL 22. 3. The Abbie DeLoach Foundation is hosting the fifth annual scholarship luncheon on Apr. 14 at 11:30 a.m. The foundation began in 2016, a year after five GSU students were killed by a distracted driver. This luncheon awards scholarships to students who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, exemplary service work, and athletic commitment, while also bringing awareness to the risks of distracted driving.
