Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:
- The Savannah Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at Waters Avenue and East Montgomery Cross Road. The incident resulted in one individual being transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is still in its early stages. (fox28media.com)
- The Savannah City Council will be considering a possible Calhoun Square name change. The proposal would remove former slave owner John C. Calhoun's name from the downtown Savannah square. The name removal vote will likely occur on Oct. 27 during the council's regular meeting. (WTOC)
- The Chatham County Police Department reports that it is analyzing new evidence in the case of missing Quinton Simon, 20 months old. The toddler has been missing for almost a week. Authorities have been searching the area and following all possible leads. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is encouraging the community to share Quinton's story.
