- The Savannah City Council has voted to rename Calhoun Square. The vote was unanimous. Mayor Van Johnson stated, "John C. Calhoun does not reflect who Savannah is." The square will not have a formal name for the time being while the Savannah City Council considers what to rename the square. (WJCL News Savannah)
- Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools held its annual Crossing Guard Appreciation Celebration on Thursday morning. The crossing guards were given lunch, certificates, and gifts as a sign of the district's appreciation. The district currently employs 56 crossing guards. (WJCL News Savannah)
- A Savannah-Chatham middle school teacher has been arrested for having electronic images of child pornography. Albin Jose Chellathurai, 39 years old, was able to post bail. He has been charged with felony computer or electronic pornography. He was employed as an eighth-grade math teacher at the district's Mercer Middle School. Parents have been notified. (WTOC)
