  1. A former Savannah Police Department Officer has been arrested for the second time. Ernest Ferguson was arrested twice on the charges of robbery by sudden snatching and grand theft in Florida earlier this year. He was fired from the department after a drunk driving arrest in 2022. (WTOC)
  2. Two archeologists recently visited Fort Pulaski National Monument in Savannah to unveil new stories of the land's past. Operated by the National Park Service, the historical brick fortress features cannonball-marked walls and civilian-built structures showcasing where the fort's residents lived, ranging from the blacksmiths to the carpenters. (Savannah Morning News)
  3. President Kimberly Ballard-Washington of Savannah State University has resigned. Ballard held the title of President for four years and was appointed by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia in May of 2021. Before that, she served as the interim President. (WTOC)

  • The Circle of Friends fundraiser returns this Cinco de Mayo to help support Savannah Jazz. This year's event is set at the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum featuring the Dolette McDonald Ensemble. From 6:30-10 p.m., enjoy food, drinks, and dancing. (WSAV)
  • May is National Bike Month, and Georgia Bikes is celebrating with special events throughout the month. Bike to School Day kickstarts the month on May 1, followed by National Ride a Bike Day, Bike to Work Week, and Bike to Work Day. (Georgia Bikes via Facebook)
  • Savannah State University's dining hall, Tiger Express, soft-launched its new and improved dining experience: no meal swipes. The diner hasn't been open since the Spring of 2022 due to the facility needing repairs, so when the doors reopened, students arrived in droves. (Tiger's Roar)
