The Marshall House dropped a slot on the Readers Choice list as it was the second-best haunted hotel in October 2023.
Meanwhile, in metro Atlanta, the Netherland Haunted House runs through Nov. 3 at 1313 Netherworld Way. Attractions include escape rooms and a monster museum.
While attending Netherland, be careful not to "wake the dead" at one of its haunts.
Here's what USA Today had to say:
Netherworld Haunted House, Best Haunted Houses and Attractions, No. 3
"Netherworld Haunted House is a dark, walk-through scare filled with live actors, cool special effects, and the monsters from your childhood nightmares that you just can't seem to shake. One featured haunt is called, "Wake the Dead," in which guests must battle vampires, angry spirits, and the undead. Mr. Grendel’s Birthday Party of Horrors is filled with musty clowns, so beware before sampling the cake."
The Marshall House, Haunted Hotels, No. 3
"Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia, and it comes with its own share of ghost stories, but the Marshall House just might top them all. This historic hotel opened in 1851 and was used as a hospital during the Yellow Fever epidemic and the American Civil War. Stories of The Marshall House abound, from ghost sightings in the hallways, to faucets that turn on by themselves, to the bones stashed beneath the floorboards — possibly the remains of Civil War soldiers' amputated limbs."
