- The Jasper County Sheriff's Office reports that human remains have been discovered at the mouth of the Savannah River. The department reached out to the Tybee Island Police Department when personal items belonging to missing Corey Joseph White, 44 years old, were discovered among the remains. The investigation is ongoing; there will be an autopsy to confirm the remains' identity. (Bluffton Today)
- Savannah residents will not need a license today to fish. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is opening its ponds today between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and Daffin Park and Lake Mayer have been fully restocked. Richmond Hill Hatchery will be celebrating the event with events for children under 16 years old. Residents will also be able to enjoy national parks, forests, and monuments today for free to celebrate National Public Lands Day. (WTOC.com)
- A heated exchange between two Savannah City Council members was recorded on a Savannah Police Department body camera. District 6 Alderman Kurtis Purtee and Alderwoman At Large Kesha Gibson-Carter exchanged remarks after a meeting on Sept. 8. The two have a recorded history of heated exchanges. (WSAV)
