Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- Chatham County and the City of Savannah have ended the local state of emergency. The area is now under Operating Condition 5 - the state of readiness that CEMA maintains between Jun. 1 and Nov. 30 each year. The Emergency Operations Center has also been closed. (fox28media.com)
- There were several power outages in the Savannah area on Friday. Georgia Power estimates that about 100 customers were without power Friday morning. South Carolina's Dominion Energy reports hundreds of power outages due to Hurricane Ian's impact. (Fox 28 Media)
- Walmart closed 11 stores in the Savannah area to prepare for Hurricane Ian's arrival. The closures went into effect on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. The company reports that the closures are temporary and that the stores will reopen when it is safe to do so.
