- As the city of Savannah is looking to expand and develop more affordable housing options for low-income families as well as senior citizens, the city is loaning developers nearly $3.2 million for the project. With a goal of 100 affordable apartments, the city is looking to built-in vacant spots near Drayton and 34th Street as well as the four-acre site on Meding Street where the fairgrounds used to be. The city also received approval in Savannah Gardens for two three-bedroom homes for people experiencing homelessness. (WJCL News Savannah)
- The Savannah Arts Academy kicked off its annual student fashion show on Thursday and it will wrap up tonight for its three-day show. The fashion show is run completely by the students, from the models to the clothing designs, and provides an opportunity for the students to show off the hard work and dedication they have put forth all year on a stage. The theme this year was Tabula Rasa — Latin for "clean slate" — and this year's show is featuring over 90 different designs in total. (WTOC)
- Keith Green of Savannah was convicted of murder once again after a previous murder conviction. Green was initially arrested in 2019 after police found a victim who was stabbed 28 times; he was arrested at the scene and later charged with the murder of Yasmin Shabazz. Prior to the 2019 murder, Green was involved in another incident involving Shabazz, and Green was convicted of domestic violence, cruelty to children, and false imprisonment. During this time, he was also on parole after a 1996 voluntary manslaughter conviction in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Dwayne Martin. District Attorney Shalena Cook Jones hopes that the prosecutor assigned to this case will listen to the recommendation in giving Green life in prison without parole. (WSAV-TV)
