Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- The Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport announced that it has added power wheelchairs to make it easier for travelers to navigate the airport. The airport has added four power wheelchairs to its mobility services. Previously, the only option for passengers who required wheelchair assistance was a manual chair pushed by an airport employee. Passengers can book one of the powered wheelchairs when booking flights by selecting the option for wheelchair assistance. (WJCL)
- President Street was temporarily closed on Saturday morning due to an overturned trolley car. According to the Savannah Fire Department, the trolley became stuck in a ditch and then its engine caught fire. There were no passengers on board, and the trolley's operator was uninjured. (WSAV)
- Juneteenth celebrations kicked off in Savannah over the weekend. The Jepsen Center held its Free Family Day in what marked Telfair Museum's 16th year of honoring Juneteenth. There are several other upcoming events to mark this holiday, including on Saturday, Jun. 17, when Forsyth Park will host the Savannah Juneteenth Fine Arts Festival at 1:00 p.m. Click here for a full list of upcoming Juneteenth events.
