Their story highlights broader concerns about understaffed Georgia nursing homes, overdue state inspections, and offers practical tips for Savannah families researching local facilities before placing a loved one.
   

2. Chatham County PD withdraws from Chatham County SWAT Team (wsav.com) — Chatham County Police have pulled out of the joint county SWAT team, citing safety, communication problems, and the sheriff’s use of an armored Bear-Cat at a private wedding. During the transition, Savannah Police Department’s SWAT team will respond to emergencies in CCPD’s jurisdiction. County leaders are now working to rebuild a dedicated SWAT unit for unincorporated Chatham and partner agencies.
   

3. Larger hotels are now prohibited there, though smaller inns and bed-and-breakfasts remain allowed.
   

4. Savannah City Council approves 2026 budget (wtoc.com) — Savannah City Council has approved the city’s 2026 budget, directing major investments into public safety, housing, drainage and stormwater upgrades, youth programs, and neighborhood improvements across Savannah. City leaders say the plan reflects residents’ priorities gathered in public meetings and aims to strengthen core services, support a growing population, and promote more equitable outcomes in every community.
   

5. Family and friends speak out after woman burned in Forsyth Park attack (wjcl.com) — Savannah police are searching for a suspect after a woman suffered severe chemical burns in an attack near Forsyth Park on Wednesday night. Investigators released surveillance images of a person in a dark hoodie and are urging residents to help identify him. Friends say the victim, now in a Georgia burn center, hopes sharing her story will prevent another attack and keep others safe in Savannah.
