One Savannah road to close for a month due to drainage improvements (wtoc.com) — Louisville Road in Savannah will close for about 30 days starting Monday, Dec. 15, between Telfair Street and Fair Street for major drainage upgrades in the Dundee Canal basin. City crews will install a new box culvert to boost stormwater capacity and reduce flooding, so drivers should plan alternate routes and expect delays in this busy corridor.

2. Possible barricaded suspect sparks school lockdown on Savannah's Southside (wjcl.com) — Savannah police responded Friday morning to reports of shots fired between vehicles near Abercorn Street and Stephenson Avenue, then tracked a possible armed suspect to the 500 block of Tibet Avenue. Officers secured the area and placed nearby Georgetown K-8 on precautionary lockdown while they worked to resolve the situation safely, asking residents to avoid the scene.

3. Narcan supplied in Savannah-Chatham Schools since 2022 (wsav.com) — Savannah-Chatham public schools have stocked Narcan opioid overdose kits since 2022, well ahead of a new statewide requirement for all Georgia schools. Local nurses, staff, and campus police are trained annually to use the medication, ensuring students, staff, and visitors have an added layer of emergency protection if an overdose ever occurs on campus.

4. Woman suffers burns in Savannah chemical attack: Police (ksro.com) — Savannah police are investigating a chemical assault that left a woman with third-degree burns while walking near Forsyth Park, and they’ve increased patrols in city parks as they search for a suspect. City leaders, including the police chief and mayor, are urging residents to stay alert and share any tips that might help quickly resolve the case.

5. Two Savannah foundations donate 300+ gifts for Christmas (wjcl.com) — Two Savannah-based groups, Divine Whispers Ministries and the Wesley Community Center, teamed up to collect over 300 Christmas gifts for 15 local families. Volunteers packed carts with toys, clothes, and bikes, aiming to ensure Savannah children and their parents wake up to presents and a reminder that their community cares during tough times.
