- A man from Baton Rouge will be spending more than 13 years in federal prison after being convicted of robbing a Savannah bank last year. Officials claim that 45-year-old Shawn Kelley was on probation for a prior robbery that happened in Gwinnett County at the time of his arrest and has a total of six overall convictions for past robberies. According to police, Kelley left the bank with a significant amount of money in hand and then walked to the bus station, where he was found by authorities. (WSAV)
- In honor of Preservation Month, the Historic Savannah Foundation celebrated on Thursday, May 4 with its annual award ceremony and reception. Each year, the organization recognizes the work done on historic houses, commercial buildings, and more to help keep them intact. These awards are primarily presented to individuals and organizations who have demonstrated excellent preservation contributions in Savannah and Chatham County. (Savannah CEO)
- On Sunday, May 7, the Savannah Area Flute Association will be presenting its spring concert at First Baptist Church. This year's music was curated around themes of astronomy and astrology, so the music will include pieces from "Star Trek," "The Planets," and much more. (Savannah Now)
