Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- Elevate Savannah is preparing students for the future inside and outside of the classroom. The free mentoring program is teaching students critical skills such as respect, communication, and leadership. The program is operating at DeRenne Middle School and Beach High School with future plans for expansion. Click to learn more about the program and to donate. (WSAV-TV)
- The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire will be hosting Savannah Day of Peace on Sunday, Sep. 25. The event is free and everyone is invited to attend at Daffin Park. Participants will learn about conflict resilience, counter violence, and peace. Savannah Mayor Van Johnson and city council members will lead the Peace Parade. (Savannah CEO)
- The Savannah Police Department has concluded its 2-day operation. Operation Clean Sweep resulted in 27 arrests on various charges. There were also 127 warnings and 178 citations issued by the department. The operation was from Aug. 29 through Aug. 30 and was meant to crack down on crime in Savannah's problem areas.
