- Savannah city officials held the first of what will be several press conferences providing guidance for the upcoming Savannah St. Patrick's Day Parade on Friday, Mar. 17. In preparation for the parade, the city will begin towing cars parked along the parade route at midnight and asks the public to remember not to park in the area. With more than 340 entries participating this year, parade officials expect that the parade will last around four hours and will start at 10:15 a.m. and run until about 2:15 p.m. or 3 p.m. (WJCL News Savannah)
- Former Savannah Police Chief Roy Minter has passed another hurdle in the process of becoming the next U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Georgia after he advanced to the next step by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. Minter resigned from his position as Savannah's police chief in June 2022 in order to focus on the nomination process and was replaced by Chief Lenny Gunther. (Subscription: Savannah Morning News)
- The Forsyth Farmers' Market will be temporarily relocating from Forsyth Park to the larger Daffin Park at 1 Waring Drive in Savannah on Saturday, Mar. 18 in preparation for anticipated larger-than-normal crowds on St. Patrick's Day weekend. The market will still run during its normal hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market's executive director, Deidre Grim, said of the temporary move, "I am ecstatic about the opportunity to showcase our market in another great area of the city. While I love Forsyth Park, I see this as an opportunity to engage, educate, and cultivate new relationships with those we may not see on any other Saturday." (WSAV)
